A historic moment for the House of the Seven Garbers: the mini van was sold...probably the last mini van Steve and Meg Garber will own. It was the seventh mini van--starting back in 1977 when we bought the first of 3 VW buses (all shades of brown and tan) then 3 Toyota Previas (hunter green, khaki, and white) and then finally, the one you see below, a white Sienna. It was replaced by a 2001 blue Toyota Highlander (It must be noted this is a 4-cylinder car.) and a 2003 white 2-door Honda Civic. Yes, it's likely the end of an era for us--the era of mini vans.

In mid-August, Blood Water Mission had the wonderful plan to have a board meeting in Estes Park, Colorado, the spot where Steve and I met (in 1969) and honeymooned (7 years later). It's also the place where the Elliott family spent two weeks every summer from 1966-(well, for me) 1976. Needless to say Rocky Mountain National Park is special.

Last year at this time, I had a "Good-bye" Jonathan post, and, of course, we said good-bye to Jessica then too as she went off to Africa. But here is our "Good-bye, Jessica" to college post in the third week of August. Here we are packed up and ready to drive to Charlottesville.

Maupin Hall where she is in Rm. 325 with Margaret as roommate . Margaret is turning into a good friend from simply being, at first, the sister of one of Elliott's good friends at UVA. Elliott also started out in Maupin:).

Made me feel very nostalgic...minivans, Cascade Cottages, beautiful mountains, saying goodbye to children, bygone beauty...more than I can take in.
Yes, I know. One can't just keep saying, "end of an era" all the time, but I realize that in some ways, each day is "the end of an era."
